THE BOOZY REINDEER
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the kitchen, Galley Kat used the vodka but only a smidgen.
OK so I may not be hired to write for greeting cards.
We’ve reached the cocooning phase of the holidays when candles are lit and the oven is fired up to the max to cook a tasty pizza.
We made this terra cotta heater a couple of years ago for the boat but I’m still hesitant to bring something so breakable onboard. It has however been a welcome addition to add a few degrees of heat to a room during sub-zero days. Link to method for making heater here
I had fun a few Christmases ago decorating these Reinbeer for the beers lovers on our Christmas list
…that year when the ice storm hit the East Coast and we spent some wonderful times with our blended families celebrating Festivus, decorated aluminum pole and all.
This year I’m upgrading the Reinbeer to orange juice cocktails. We can all use more vitamin C, or for we sailors, it’s referred to vitamin sea. A little splash of Roasted Cranberry Cocktail Mixer (recipe link here), some freshly squeezed lemon juice and a glug glug or two of vodka.

- 5 cups orange juice
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 1 can lemon or lime soda (Sprite or 7-up)
- 1.5 cups vodka
- ½ cup roasted cranberry cocktail mixer or grenadine
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Chill well before serving
- Serve with a sense of humour
