SCURVY AWARENESS DAY – GOSLING’S SIDECAR

” A lemon a day…and rum…keeps the scurvy at bay”
This is a day to be aware of scurvy, the disease that afflicted many a sailor on long voyages pre-18th century because of poor diet and Vitamin C deficiencies.
So this 2nd day of May 2016, we, the good respectful sailors that we are, remember those poor souls by adding a dose of lemon to our tot of rum.
GOSLING’S SIDECAR
what you will need for 2 servings
1 tsp sugar + a little extra to rim glasses
2 ounces fresh lemon juice +plus a wedge to wet glasses and a twist for garnish
4 ounces Gosling’s Rum
2 ounces Grand Marnier
ice
cocktail shaker
shakin’ it up
Wet rims of 2 glasses with lemon wedge and coat with sugar.
In cocktail shaker stir lemon juice with 1 tsp sugar.
Add rum, Grand Marnier and ice and shake.
Strain into glasses and serve with a twist of lemon.
