EASY TWO (plus 2) INGREDIENT TOMATO SAUCE
This recipe is truly a ‘have-nothing-in-my-kitchen-so-raid-my-pantry’ recipe.
EASY TWO (plus 2) INGREDIENT TOMATO SAUCE
1 - 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
a generous 1/3 cup unsalted butter
here’s the plus 2…
1 medium onion cut in half
3 cloves garlic
sea salt and pepper to taste
(I don’t count these as ingredients
because who doesn’t always add salt and pepper to their tomato sauce?)
Place all but salt and pepper in a sauce pan.
Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 40 - 50 minutes.
Remove onion and garlic (your plus 2 for this party)
Season to your liking.
This makes a really good sauce for a simple spaghetti supper.
Just add some freshly grated Parm and a crispy salad and you are complete.
I hate wasting anything so instead of discarding the onion and garlic,
I hauled out my immersion blender to make a smooth creamy version.
Your call.
Either way it is delicious and easy….
