Who would have thought that the hit of the party could be these little sweet treats?
But they were indeed!
The combination of peanut butter and dark chocolate with a slight crunch of fleur de sel (salt flakes)
make them irresistible.
SEA SALT and DARK CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER TREATS
what you will need
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1/2 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
(the amount will vary according to the type of peanut butter and oil content)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
fleur de sel for sprinkling (about 1 tbsp)
With a hand blender combine the peanut butter, vanilla and butter
until very creamy, fluffy and smooth.
Very gradually add powdered sugar until the dough holds together.
Be careful not to add too much too quickly
as if you add too much, there’s no going back.
The dough will be very dense and sticky.
Line a baking tray or large plate with parchment paper.
Form dough into 1″ balls and drop onto parchment.
Refrigerate all the balls while you prepare the chocolate.
Placing in the freezer works best but this recipe is meant for my simple galley existence.
While the balls are chillin’, melt chocolate in a bowl placed over hot water.
When ready to assemble, gather all your tools together in one place:
chilled balls, melted chocolate, fleur de sel and a toothpick or two
and your parchment lined plate.
Insert a toothpick into a ball and gently dip in the chocolate to coat the bottom.
Place back on the parchment lined plate.
When you have a platefull complete, sprinkle a bit of the salt flakes on each ball.
Drizzle some of the melted chocolate over each just because.
Place your completed masterpiece back in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve.
I dare you not to sample as they chill.
